Fire Ants
Fire ants are more than a nuisance—they can quickly take over your yard, disrupt your family’s outdoor activities, and even cause costly damage to your property. Their mounds can spread across lawns, gardens, and pastures, and they’re known to invade electrical equipment when nesting. Because fire ants multiply and move fast, treating them early is the key to preventing a larger infestation. Fire Ant Fixer provides targeted, effective outdoor fire ant control to stop colonies at the source and keep your property protected season after season.
Fire ants are aggressive, reddish‑brown insects that thrive in our Carolina climate and react quickly when their mound is disturbed. They bite to anchor themselves and then sting, which creates a burning sensation followed by itching, swelling, and sometimes an allergic reaction. Their colonies are organized around a single queen or, in some cases, several queens, and the queen’s role is entirely focused on reproduction. She is larger than the workers, darker in color, and has a rounded abdomen that allows her to lay the eggs that sustain the colony. Without her, the colony eventually collapses, which is why she is considered the most important member.
Their mounds are easy to recognize once you know what to look for. A fire ant mound is usually dome‑shaped and made of loose, fluffy soil. Unlike many other ant species, fire ants don’t leave a visible entrance hole on top; they move in and out through underground tunnels. These mounds tend to appear in sunny, open areas such as lawns, fields, and sidewalks, and they often show up after rainfall when the soil is soft enough for the ants to rebuild or expand their structure.

Our Treatments
A single bait treatment in the spring can knock fire ant populations down quite a bit, but the effect is even greater when a second or even third round is applied in midsummer and again in the fall, the colony’s ability to rebound drops sharply.
The fall application is especially valuable because it suppresses the number of active mounds that would otherwise appear the following spring, when conditions warm up and colonies naturally expand.
This seasonal approach works because bait is most effective when ants are actively foraging, and those periods line up with the times of year when colonies are building up food reserves or preparing for cooler weather.
Why Choose Fire Ant Fixer?
Most pest control companies treat mounds as they see them. We treat the entire property because fire ants are experts at hiding until they’re ready to sting.
